When will my Credit Card be Charged?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

Currently, to purchase more aluminum for production, we are charging credit cards the day you place the order.

Much like a Kickstarter, we use these funds to increase our output via inventory purchases and capital investments. Unlike Kickstarter, we allow 100% refunds.

We are using this capital to lock in aluminum pricing and, as a startup, in lieu of paying interest on loans (for which we don’t qualify for…yet) which would mean raising prices even more.

We always suggest using a credit card vs. a debit card to protect yourself against any fraudulent or disputed charges.

You can see our daily progress on shipments HERE to get an idea of how we are doing.

Keep in mind, if at any time you want a 100% refund, do not hesitate to ask for one. We understand your support of this startup and are happy to assist you.

What if I want to add to my existing order?

If you would like to add items to your existing order(s), place a new order and please use the same email address as your first order. Reply back to us from your email order receipts so we can match to the earlier orders, and key your rack the same.

Is shipping included?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

Free shipping is NOT included with any shipments, as shipping and fuel charges are extremely volatile.

We only ship to USA (Lower 48 states), APOs, Alaska, Hawaii and Canada – priced at current rates.

We do not estimate the shipping amount to your area for you. To get an estimate of your shipping cost, put the items you’re interested in ordering into the cart and go through the checkout process until you see the shipping amount. You can then choose to complete your order or not.

Additionally, we decided we should be more “equitable” in our pricing methodology to charge accordingly to each customer vs. charging the people close to us more to make up for the people farther away.

What are the dimensions of the rack?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

Buying a new bike rack is like welcoming a new family member. Let’s make sure the Mach2 “fits” into your family!

  • Weights:
    Mach2 2″ & 1.25″ – 30.7 lbs (Shipping is 36.2 lbs and box outside dimensions are 31″x19″x9″ – inside dimensions are 29.5″x18″x8″)
  • Add-on – 22.7 lbs (Shipping is 27.9 lbs and outside dimensions are 31″x19″x9″ – inside dimensions are 29.5″x18″x8″)

  • Maximum tire width – 4.77 inches (5.05 tire is the maximum we have seen and it works – see this FAQ – Maximum Tire width

NOTE: We do NOT give opinions of fitment, as there are variables of changes in model spec, OEM & aftermarket hitches and adapters, and way too many cars to keep up a database. We give YOU the tools you should need to measure and make a determination yourself. If you can’t find the answer you need, contact us!

What is the weight capacity of each of the four trays?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

These are conservative numbers made to protect your investment in your bikes. Please check your tongue weight capacity for your vehicle/hitch as OEM will not be the same as an aftermarket hitch.

These numbers do NOT take into consideration hitch adapters or extenders that could put more leverage, and therefore stress, on the hitch/crossbar that would lower these capacities even more.

What if I have fenders on my bike?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

Every bike and setup is different, so please keep that in mind when thinking about fenders. But most fenders are NOT a problem at all!
The tire spool–at the end of the arm that grabs the tire–must hug the tires above the horizontal mid-line of the wheel. While the spool is adjustable, placing it at 45 degrees is the optimal position, giving equal forward and downward force to secure the bike. Keep this in mind as you read on about fender solutions.
Tire Spool at a 45 degree angle
If your fender is short and does not come down as far as the tire spool, then there is no issue and you need not do anything differently than you would with a bike that doesn’t have a fender. Also, plastic fenders are flexible and can generally take the shape of the tire beneath the spool. Some fenders flair out and up at the end and it is possible to tuck the spool that grabs the tire right up under the fender.
If, however, the fender extends beyond the 45 degree tire spool position and/or is made of steel, there are a few different solutions to try.
First, when pressing the tire spool against your fender, it is not necessary to use as much pressure as one would use when compressing directly onto the tire. In other words, you will not compromise your fender because you will not use as much force. You can also place some pipe insulation tubing (from your local hardware store) around the tire spool itself to minimize scratching of the fender. The pipe insulation would be 2 inch diameter with 1 inch diameter hole.

We have also seen customers place additional pipe insulation or a cut section of a pool noodle between the tire and the fender. This will help maintain the shape of the fender and prevent it from rubbing against the tire.

It is possible (and easy) to lower the tire spool along the arm. Doing so changes the contact point on the tire and often results in it sitting lower than or tucked under the fender. Lowering the tire spool will change the angle of the arm, so be sure to check that it is still around the optimal 45 degrees.

Additionally, we recommend using the Wheel Strap accessory as another contact point. These are helpful for bikes with fenders that hang below the optimal 45 degrees

eBike showing Wheel Strap - medium

close up of Wheel Strap 1

All of these recommendations hold true for fat tire bikes as well.
You may reach out to us for further support when you receive the rack and we can help you troubleshoot if it is not working for you.
NOTE: Sorry, but we are not responsible for any damage to fenders due to these suggestions and your usage of them.

Can I remove the captive safety pin and use a standard hitch pin?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

Yes, you can remove the captive safety pin with one screw and use a standard hitch pin bolt with cotter pin or lock.

However, this is not possible with the 1.25″ hitch or the 1.25″ with the 2″ adapter installed. The reason is because there is no hole going through the adapter. In other words, you can only do this with the 2″ hitch model.

How does the 1.25″ rack convert to a 2″ hitch?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

Customers sometimes purchase a 1.25″ rack when they have a 2″ receiver on their vehicle. The reason for doing this is so they can use the rack with other cars, some of which may have a 1.25″ receiver. We manufacture a spacer to add to the 1.25″ male piece that pops on and off. This adapter is included with every Mach2 1.25″ purchase. See photos and keep reading.

You might find this video helpful –>  How to Use Hitch Adapter

There are other adapters on the market and they can be purchased separately. The CEO himself has a third-party hitch adapter/extender on his Subaru, converting his 1.25″ receiver to a 2″ hitch. Because of the extra play it created, he had the adapter welded into his 1.25″ receiver, alleviating the extra movement but also making his receiver permanently a 2″ receiver. If you use the QuikrStuff adapter that comes with your 1.25″ rack, you will not experience any extra play.

NOTE: We do not warranty any rack setup that uses an adapter other than the one QuikrStuff manufactures and includes with your 1.25″ rack purchase.

Will the rack work with a hitch extender?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

You may use a hitch extender with your rack. We do not currently manufacture or sell a hitch extender. You can find these at etrailer.com or from other companies.

Often times using an extension can introduce more play and noise into the whole system. You can try an anti-rattle stabilizer (shown in photo below) to alleviate these issues. No, we do not sell these either. Another option is welding the extender into your receiver, but this does make it a permanent feature.

Be sure to consider the number and weight of the bikes you are hauling and realize that the limits will be reduced when an extension is used. Refer to the class rating and tongue weight of your vehicle’s hitch receiver. Typically, your tongue weight will be reduced by 50% when using an extension.

How does the hitch attach into my hitch receiver?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

The Mach2 hitch design uses two aluminum pads instead of one steel ball, which was what was used with the inventor’s previous bike rack. This is a huge improvement! The pads are stronger, smoother, and more stable, and the old steel ball version could deform the hitch over time.

Our rack also comes with a Captive Safety Pin for additional peace of mind. The Captive Safety Pin does not go through a hole in your receiver; rather, it sits just behind the flange on your receiver. A regular locking pin can be used, if so desired. And the Captive Safety Pin can be removed with one screw for vehicles that don’t have clearance for it.

Will it clear my spare tire and/or rear door on my Jeep?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

Since everyone has a different model and spare tire size, we recommend a 2″ to 2″ extension to push the rack further rearward.

We do NOT recommend buying the 1.25″ Mach2 as it will put more strain on it.

There are many third-party products you can search for to solve this problem as we don’t have our own…yet.

Note: Our warranty does not cover racks used on 3rd party products (extenders, pivots, etc.) as we have no control over their integrity.

Do you fit Elliptigo bikes?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

We recently met a doctor in our town who had an Elliptigo 11R bike and it fits fine on our rack with no modification.

If you wanted to carry two Elliptigo bikes, you would need to have one Add-on in between them because of the width of the base being larger than our width.

We may look into creating a customization to carry two Elliptigo bikes next to each other, but that will be some time off as we crank out higher demand items. 🙂

What is the 1-key anti-theft system?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

One of the greatest features of the Quik Rack Mach2 is the one-key anti-theft system. You rack, Add-On(s), and Wheel Locks (should you choose to order them) will all have blue push-button barrel locks. These will lock the rack to your vehicle, lock any Add-Ons to the rack or to the Add-On in front of it, and lock the Wheel Locks through your wheels to the arms of the rack.

In the photo above, you can see the red safety latch that connects the Add-ons together and the blue push-button barrel lock that protects it from being removed.

The same type of lock and key are used to lock the rack into the hitch. We will make sure that all of your locks are keyed the same, i.e., use the same key, even if you purchase additional products down the road from your original order. You will receive plenty of keys, but if you lose them or want more, additional keys can be purchased.

How do I lock my bike to the rack?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

Our Wheel Lock accessory (shown below) works perfectly to lock your bike to the Mach2 rack. For additional security, we suggest you weave a cable between the locks and the bike(s). Such cables are generally available at your local bike shop.

We recommend one lock per wheel, i.e. two locks per bike for quick security.
If you choose to ALWAYS use a cable, you could get by with one wheel lock.

We are currently only selling Wheel Locks to customers who have purchased a bike rack from us. If you need to add Wheel Locks to your already placed order, please order them using the same email address you did when purchasing your rack and we will combine your orders and ship them out together in the order of the production queue.

For convenience, Wheel Locks are keyed the same as your rack, add-ons, and ramp.
We will look you up in our database (as long as you use the same email as your original order/account) and match the key(s) to your Mach2 and other accessories. You can also email us at support@quikrstuff.com to ensure that we get your components keyed the same.

Our Wheel Locks are proudly made in our Grand Junction, Colorado factory.

Are you associated with original Quik Rack (company name removed)?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

Cal Phillips was the inventor, designer, and owner of the original Quik Rack and was already busy working on his latest and greatest Quik Rack Mach2 before parting ways with (company name removed for legal reasons).  In addition to carrying more weight and meeting the need for hauling several heavy ebikes, the Mach2 corrects the six major “issues” of the original rack. Cal is no longer associated with (company name removed for legal reasons) and now works with QuikrStuff.

Features:

Easy-access pivot trigger – With an easy-access trigger on the end of every Add-on, gone are the days of reaching blindly under the rack to find that sticky release bar that often became a 2-person job.

No tool Add-ons – Add and remove Add-ons in seconds. No tools needed.

One key anti-theft system – The same lock and key is used to lock the rack into the hitch, the Add-ons together, and the ramp accessory to the Add-ons. If you wish to purchase an additional Add-on later down the road, we can look up what variation of lock you have and match it. This is also true for our Wheel Lock accessory.

No tools wheel size adjustment – Switch between strider bikes and big boy bikes in seconds. To accommodate wheels of any size, just loosen the gold lever, slide, and tighten. Tire spools are already fat tire ready, no spacer kit needed.

Redesigned hitch – The new hitch design uses two aluminum pads instead of one steel ball. The pads are stronger, smoother, and more stable, as the old steel ball version could deform the hitch over time. The same key is used to lock the Add-ons together and the rack into the hitch. It can only lock in the top 200 degrees, eliminating the chance of locking it in the down position, where it is prone to damage.

Portability and Storage – Press the blue plate to fold for easy carrying, transport, and storage. One-bike rack weighs 28 lbs. + 22 lbs. per Add-on.

Ramp accessory – Roll heavy Ebikes onto the rack with our modular ramp accessory. It uses the same anti-theft system and attaches just like another Add-on.

No tools pivoting license plate holder accessory – Your new rack may obstruct the view of your vehicle’s license plate. If that happens, you can use the Quik attach license plate brackets to move your license plate to the back of the rack where it is more visible. Once installed, you will be able to move your license plate from your rack to your vehicle within seconds and without tools.

Do you offer any discounts, pro deals, etc.?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

First time customers can use the WELCOME25 coupon in the checkout process to receive $25 off their first order (order must be $599 or more). We currently do not offer any other discounts or pro deals.

We hope to be able to do so in the future, but at this time our demand is so high and we are still trying to catch up from delays associated with being a startup, Covid, supply chain issues and continued high demand for our product. Thank you for understanding.

What metals is the rack made from?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

The rack itself is mainly anodized aluminum with stainless steel fasteners (screws, bolts and nuts) and some brass bushings. There are also a few Delrin parts. Delrin is an engineering thermoplastic used in precision parts requiring high stiffness, low friction, and excellent dimensional stability.

Why is the Quik Rack Mach2 more expensive than competitors?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023
QuikrStuff is a dedicated to one thing: making the gold standard of bike racks. With the inventor of the original Quik Rack in our corner, you can expect his latest model, the Mach2, to be the industry standard. Its price reflects its durability and ease-of-use, which can’t be matched thanks to the no-tools design. Other notable features are: easy-access pivot trigger, one key anti-theft system, no tools add-ons, no tools wheel size adjustment, the redesigned hitch, portability and easy storage, and the ramp and license plate accessories.
The Mach2 rack is 100% American-made, which naturally poses cost challenges. We do, however, remain competitively priced with other heavy-duty 4-bike systems.
We hope you’ll consider the latest and greatest to protect the investment you’ve made in your bikes.

Do you ship outside the USA?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

We are only shipping to the USA (Alaska and Hawaii included), US Military, and Canada at this time.

We currently ONLY offer international shipments to Canada. We hope to expand into other destinations as we catch up on backorders. It is worth noting that you will pay a shipping fee with us, and any duties or taxes associated with the shipment charged by the CBSA are your responsibility to pay.

Free shipping is NOT included in any shipments, as shipping and fuel charges are extremely volatile.

Shipping cost is available at checkout.

Additionally, we decided we should be more “equitable” in our pricing methodology to charge accordingly to each customer vs. charging the people close to us more to make up for the people farther away.

What kind of hardware do you use and how do I maintain it?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

The rack itself is mainly anodized aluminum with stainless steel fasteners (screws, bolts and nuts) and some brass bushings. There are also a few Delrin parts. Delrin is an engineering thermoplastic used in precision parts requiring high stiffness, low friction, and excellent dimensional stability.

The fasteners are torqued at the factory and because of the chemical properties of steel mated to aluminum, need no thread-lock solution.

Any mechanical connection can vibrate and loosen, so it is a good idea to occasionally check the fasteners and other parts to make sure they are secure and tight. This is normal wear and tear.

Do you have gift cards?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023
We love the idea of giving a QuikrStuff gift card! We can create a “product” that you can put into your cart that will generate a single-use coupon code for whatever amount you would like.
The process would be:
1. You let us know the amount of the gift card you would like to purchase (any amount of your choice).
2. We create the product, making it available for you to purchase.
3. You shop and put this product in your cart. Upon payment, we will provide you a coupon code (i.e., gift card).
4. You present the coupon code as your gift OR we create a document that you can present as your gift. The document will include our company name; the amount of your gift; the coupon code and instructions for using it; and, if you wish, a personal message from you.
If you are agreeable to this, email us at support@quikrstuff.com and we will make it happen.

How do I clean my rack?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

Wash Me Video

Keep your rack clean and in good working order by simply using water and soap, nothing more. All metals corrode no matter what treatment they have, so the more you keep them clean, the better they will operate and last.

It works just fine to spray the rack off at the car wash.

Road salts are very corrosive, so you must be proactive with your rack to keep it in good condition.

NOTE: Do NOT use any lubricant as it will collect dirt and prevent the necessary friction to keep the rack arm(s) locked in place

How do I keep the rack arm from squeaking?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

Some squeaking is normal, so no need to think that there is an issue with the rack. Do NOT use any lubricant as it will collect dirt and prevent the necessary friction to keep the rack arm locked in place. When operating the rack arm, squeaking can be minimized by lifting the red lever parallel with the silver bar as shown below. Also, be sure to periodically wash your rack with soap and water (you can spray it at the car wash) to keep it functioning correctly.

How do I safely use and reset the pivot trigger and release bar?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

The red easy-access pivot trigger is on the end of the rack and each Add-On, so it is always easy to find and use. This feature allows you to pivot the rack into four different positions – vertical storage position, 45-degree, the horizontal standard carry position, and hatch access.

It may seem that the pivot trigger is too tight and too hard to move. It is intentionally made this way. It helps to jiggle the rack back and forth and up and down to get it to release.

After moving the rack between positions, ensure the red pivot trigger is flush with the two cross bars and not sticking up higher than them (this is true for the vertical position and for standard carry position). Again, you can jiggle the rack around to help get the red pivot trigger to drop into its home position. It’s a good idea to get in the habit of running your hand or thumb over the pivot trigger after you tilt your rack to check that it is flush with the two cross bars.

Ensuring that the red pivot trigger is in its home position will in turn ensure that the release bar (circled in yellow below) is reseated and safe to travel with. The release bar should not be left as it is seen in the illustration below.

My Arms look bent/crooked. What do I do?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

Spools crooked

Loosen and retighten the tire spools so that they are aligned/evenly positioned on each arm.

Uneven spacing can make the arms appear to “bend” and looked crooked.

Also, you might have to turn the carriage bolt a 1/4 turn either way to make sure the gold lever is tight and against the bar as shown in the picture.

Are the racks rated for RV and travel-trailer usage?

It needs to be inserted into a chassis mounted hitch receiver (not a bumper mount).

Is the Mach2 approved for Off Road use?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

The Mach2 is approved for general Off Road use.

This being said, proper caution is always required. We call this common sense coverage.

Drive slowly and carefully in all off-road situations. If you are driving too fast and hit a big bump that causes damage to your rack or vehicle, that is not covered under warranty. If you are using the rack on demanding 4×4 terrain and drop off a ledge and bash the rack, this is not covered by warranty.
