How does the license plate holder work?

UPDATED JANUARY 2025

The license plate holder allows you to easily move your license plate between your vehicle and the bike rack, where–with a simple flip–it will be visible to those following you whether you have the rack in the upright/stowed position or the carrying position. It requires no tools to move it back and forth.

When ordered at the same time as a rack, the rack will ship with the license plate kit already attached under the left-hand tray.

The Tray Mount License Plate Kit includes all parts to mount your license plate to the bike rack tray and to your FIRST vehicle:

  • License Plate Bracket for the rack
  • License Plate Bracket for your vehicle
  • License Plate Tray Brackets for attaching to underside of the bike tray

You can also order a license plate bracket for a second vehicle (click HERE). This is handy if you frequently switch your rack between vehicles.

You can order more License Plate Tray Brackets if yours get lost or you want the option of moving your license plate to a different tray on your bike rack setup. Click  HERE.

If you need just an additional vehicle bracket, click HERE.

Are you associated with the original Quik Rack (company name removed)?

UPDATED JANUARY 2025

Cal Phillips was the inventor, designer, and owner of the original Quik Rack and was already busy working on his latest and greatest Quik Rack Mach2 before parting ways with (company name removed for legal reasons).  In addition to carrying more weight and meeting the need for hauling several heavy ebikes, the Mach2 corrects the six major “issues” of the original rack. Cal is no longer associated with (company name removed for legal reasons) and his new rack is licensed to QuikrStuff.

Features:

Easy-access pivot trigger – With an easy-access trigger on the end of every Add-on, gone are the days of reaching blindly under the rack to find that sticky release bar that often became a 2-person job.

No tool Add-ons – Add and remove Add-ons in seconds. No tools needed.

One key anti-theft system – The same lock and key is used to lock the rack into the hitch, the Add-on to the rack, and the ramp accessory to the Add-ons. If you wish to purchase an additional accessory later down the road, we can look up what variation of lock you have and match it. This is also true for our Wheel Lock accessory.

No tools wheel size adjustment – Switch between strider bikes and big boy bikes in seconds. To accommodate wheels of any size, just loosen the gold lever, slide, and tighten. Tire spools are already fat tire ready, no spacer kit needed.

Redesigned hitch – The new hitch design uses two aluminum pads instead of one steel ball. The pads are stronger, smoother, and more stable, as the old steel ball version could deform the hitch over time. The same key is used to lock the Add-ons together and the rack into the hitch. It can only lock in the top 200 degrees, eliminating the chance of locking it in the down position, where it is prone to damage.

Portability and Storage – Press the blue plate to fold for easy carrying, transport, and storage. One-bike rack weighs 28 lbs. + 22 lbs. per Add-on.

Ramp accessory – Roll heavy eBikes onto the rack with our modular ramp accessory. It uses the same anti-theft system and attaches just like another Add-on.

No tools pivoting license plate holder accessory – Your new rack may obstruct the view of your vehicle’s license plate. If that happens, you can use the Quik attach license plate brackets to move your license plate to the back of the rack where it is more visible. Once installed, you will be able to move your license plate from your rack to your vehicle within seconds and without tools.

How does the new Quik Rack Mach2 compare to the old Quik Rack?

UPDATED MAY 2025

It’s the rack you know and love, but Quikr and better.

14 new patents, modular, lightweight yet heavy duty!

All Modular – Buy the main bike rack to haul one bike. If you need to carry additional bikes, purchase one or more add-ons. Easily and quickly connect the add-on to the main rack and take it off when not needed. The ramp is also sold separately. All components are keyed the same for your convenience.

Easy-access pivot trigger – With an easy-access trigger on the end of every Add-on, gone are the days of reaching blindly under the rack to find that sticky release bar that often became a 2-person job.

No tool Add-ons – Add and remove Add-ons in seconds. No tools needed in the whole bike rack setup.

One key anti-theft system – The same lock and key is used to lock the rack into the hitch, the Add-ons together, and the ramp accessory to the Add-ons. If you wish to purchase an additional Add-on later down the road, we can look up what variation of lock you have and match it.

Do you ship outside the USA?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

We are only shipping to the USA (Alaska and Hawaii included), US Military, and Canada at this time.

We currently ONLY offer international shipments to Canada. We hope to expand into other destinations as we catch up on backorders. It is worth noting that you will pay a shipping fee with us, and any duties or taxes associated with the shipment charged by the CBSA are your responsibility to pay.

Free shipping is NOT included in any shipments, as shipping and fuel charges are extremely volatile.

If you want to know how much your shipping will be, please put the desired items in your cart and go through the checkout process until you get to shipping. You can decide from there whether or not you want to complete the order.

Additionally, we decided we should be more “equitable” in our pricing methodology to charge accordingly to each customer vs. charging the people close to us more to make up for the people farther away.

What kind of hardware do you use and how do I maintain it?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2023

The rack itself is mainly anodized aluminum with stainless steel fasteners (screws, bolts and nuts) and some brass bushings. There are also a few Delrin parts. Delrin is an engineering thermoplastic used in precision parts requiring high stiffness, low friction, and excellent dimensional stability.

The fasteners are torqued at the factory and because of the chemical properties of steel mated to aluminum, need no thread-lock solution.

Any mechanical connection can vibrate and loosen, so it is a good idea to occasionally check the fasteners and other parts to make sure they are secure and tight. This is normal wear and tear.

Can I use other companies’ products with the Mach 2?

UPDATED JANUARY 2025

Our products are not compatible with other companies’ bike racks.

Many customers have ordered and are successfully using the QuikrStuff license plate kit with products that are not QuikrStuff’s.

We cannot provide guidance on fit nor guarantee the full and safe function of our product when it is used in conjunction with third-party accessories, not limited to, but including: hitch extensions, reducers, adapters, swing away pivots, hitch adaptors, bike covers, etc. Any damages that result from the installation and/or use of products and/or parts on your QuikrStuff rack that are not unmodified QuikrStuff parts are not covered by our warranty.

This is also true for our Wheel Lock accessory.
