Dimensions of the rack 1.25″ V2 and Original 2″ (applicable prior to 5/20/26)

UPDATED MAY 2025 and ARCHIVED 5/20/26

We cannot guarantee fitment of the rack on your vehicle because there are too many variables in model spec, OEM (original equipment manufacturer), and aftermarket hitches and adapters, as well as way too many vehicles to keep up a database. Instead, we provide for you here the information you need to measure and make a determination yourself. If you can’t find the answer you need, contact us!

To determine if the Mach2 will hold your specific bikes, see this FAQ. If you’re not sure, we can usually give you a definitive yes or no, especially if you send in a photo of your bike(s).

  • Mach2 2″ bike rack specs
  • Mach2 1.25″ bike rack specs
  • Add-on specs
  • Ramp specs

The diagrams below use ordinate dimensions. They show the distance from a base point (labeled 0 in the drawings) to multiple reference points. Look for measurements extending horizontally left or right from the zero OR extending vertically up or down from the zero. The base point for this measurement is taken from the minimum insertion point of the rack.

Weight capacities for 1.25″ V2 and Original 2″ (applicable prior to 5/20/26)

UPDATED MAY 2026 and ARCHIVED 5/20/26

The load capacities provided here are conservative numbers made to protect your investment in your bikes. Please check the Hitch Class Rating for your vehicle/hitch as OEM (original equipment manufacturer) will not be the same as an aftermarket hitch. Read this FAQ for more information about hitch safety.

These weight capacities do not apply when hitch adapters, extenders, swing away arms, or bike covers are used. All of these items put more leverage (stress) on the hitch/crossbar and therefore lower the weight capacities of the rack. Also, use of any of these items will void the warranty.

1.25″ V2 Mach2 (applicable to rack purchased between 1/28/25 and 5/20/26

1 bike –   120 lbs
2 bikes – 150 lbs total for both bikes
3 bikes – 120 lbs total for all three bikes

2″ Mach2 (applicable to racks purchased anytime prior to 5/20/26)

1 bike   – 120 lbs
2 bikes – 240 lbs total for both bikes
3 bikes – 300 lbs total for all three bikes
4 bikes – 185 lbs total for all four bikes

Mach2 2 inch Hitch Weight Capacities

Even though the 1.25″ rack can hold 150 pounds total and the 2″ rack can carry 300 pounds total, each individual bike rack tray has a weight limit of 120 pounds that cannot be exceeded. Doing so could cause the rack to fail.

The maximum weight for each tray is reduced as the trays get further from the vehicle. That is why trays one and two can hold 120 pounds (on the 2″ rack), but trays three and four cannot. Think about a diving board. As you get further out on the diving board you bend the board more by increasing the force on the end of the board. You also increase the force on the diving board’s attachments to the ground even though you weigh the same. As you add more bikes to the rack with add-ons, you increase the force on the rack frame, especially the attachment point to the car.

Load heaviest bike first/closest to the vehicle. Lighter bikes get loaded last.

We highly recommend that you adhere to the weight capacity guidelines listed here, not only for the safety of your bikes but also for the safety of others who are on the road near you. Carrying more weight than is suggested will void the warranty on the product.

Are the racks rated for RV and travel-trailer usage? (applicable prior to 5/20/26)

UPDATED May 2026

The Mach2 2″ bike rack can be used on the back of RVs, 5th Wheels, Class C RVs, and travel trailers. However, you can only do this with the 2″ hitch version of the rack (not the 1.25″) and the rack needs to be inserted into a chassis-mounted hitch receiver (not a bumper mount). Also, you MUST use the RV calculator as the deciding factor.

PLEASE use this calculator to determine if it is safe to carry your bikes behind your specific RV-type vehicle and/or travel trailer using the Quik Rack Mach2. Note that this version of the RV calculator works for the original Mach2 2″ bike rack and not the newer longer version which started selling 5/20/26.  You will need to know the following:

  1. The weight of the bikes you wish to carry (two maximum)
  2. If you hope to also carry our ramp accessory behind your recreational vehicle
  3. The VRA-to-HPC (Vehicle Rear Axle -to- Hitch Pin Center). Measure in inches from the center of the rear axle on your recreational vehicle to the center of the hitch pin hole on your receiver. Anything over 96 inches will be an automatic no from us based on our testing and the math our calculator uses.

Or, contact us at Sales@QuikrStuff.com and we will help you determine if your particular recreational vehicle will support your particular bikes using our rack and answer any other questions you might have.

Know that our calculations and recommendations are very conservative and err on the side of keeping bikes and travelers safe. While we understand that there may be exceptions, we are not in a position to make those decisions. We encourage you to explore other avenues where you may find the answers you might be seeking.

An option is to carry your rack and bikes on a vehicle towed by the RV. We approve regular use of the rack (i.e., following our number of allowed bikes and rack weight capacity guidelines) if the vehicle is being flat-towed with all four tires on the ground. Using a dolly–where the front tires are lifted up–is not approved. The angle of the vehicle–and thus the rack–would put too many unusual forces and stress on various parts of the rack. Plus, having just two tires on the ground will not support the weight of the rack and bikes.

Also, be very careful with extenders, adapters, swing away arms, or bike covers. Doing so can result in the slow degradation of the rack or a sudden catastrophic failure. Using any of these will void the warranty.
