What is Overlanding?
Overlanding is a style of self-reliant travel that involves exploring remote destinations where the journey itself is the primary goal. Typically done with off-road capable vehicles or motorcycles, overlanding combines elements of camping, off-roading, and long-distance travel. Unlike traditional road trips, overlanding often involves navigating unpaved trails, staying off the grid, and being fully prepared to handle rough terrain, changing weather, and mechanical issues. Travelers carry everything they need—including food, water, and shelter—often outfitting their vehicles with roof tents, solar panels, and gear carrying and storage systems.
At its core, overlanding is about adventure, discovery, and self-sufficiency. Whether it’s a weekend trip or a way of life, the goal is to experience nature up close, often far from paved roads and tourist routes. It’s grown into a passionate community of explorers who value freedom, minimalism, and the spirit of the open road.
