There are times when day-to-day challenges of running a small USA manufacturing company can seem like a long hill to climb. But the thing that keeps us going is hearing feedback from customers who are positively impacted by our bike racks. We recently heard from customer Kai S., and wanted to share his observations. The following is an unedited, unmodified copy of the email he sent in. Enjoy the review!
QuikrStuff Mach2 — Everything I Hoped It Would Be, and Better
After spending quite a bit of time researching hitch-mounted bike racks, I chose the QuikrStuff Mach2, and after using it for the past several weeks, I can say without hesitation that I absolutely love this rack.
For me, one of the biggest priorities was **speed and simplicity**. I am 6’6″, I frequently go directly from work or other commitments to ride my bike, and I’m often wearing a suit or other nice clothing when I’m installing or removing the rack. I did not want to crawl underneath the car, struggle with an awkward hitch pin, or spend five minutes fiddling with hardware.
QuikrStuff has absolutely nailed this.
The newer hitch mechanism, with its two pressure pads and extremely clever hitch-pin system, makes installing and removing the Mach2 astonishingly fast. Once you’ve done it a couple of times, we’re talking about **seconds**. Slide it into the receiver, secure it, and you’re done. Coming from another rack that required considerably more fiddling with the hitch pin, this alone is a huge improvement.
Loading the bike is just as impressive.
I was initially skeptical about a system that secures the bike entirely by the tires. I regularly transport a bike worth approximately $8,000, and I wanted complete confidence that it wasn’t going anywhere at highway speeds, over bumps, or on rough Wisconsin roads.
That concern disappeared almost immediately.
Roll the bike onto the tray, bring the two arms down firmly against the tires, and that’s essentially it. After doing it a handful of times, I can have my bike securely loaded in **about a minute**. More importantly, once it’s secured, it feels absolutely solid.
**Fast. Safe. Simple.**
And because nothing contacts the frame, I don’t have to worry about clamps or straps rubbing against an expensive carbon bike.
The construction is equally impressive. The Mach2 has a beautifully engineered, industrial quality to it, with extensive use of aluminum and very little plastic. Everything feels substantial, precise and designed to last.
But here’s what really makes the Mach2 perfect for me.
I drive a Tesla Model Y and use the **single-tray Mach2** because most of the time I’m riding alone. If I need additional capacity in the future, the modular design allows me to add another tray. I love that concept: carry exactly what you need rather than permanently hauling around a giant multi-bike rack.
With the single tray installed, I can release the Mach2 and **fold the entire rack vertically with one hand**.
And most importantly, I can still **fully open the Model Y’s rear hatch and access the entire trunk while the rack remains installed**.
That completely changed how I use a bike rack.
My goal was never to install and remove a rack every time I wanted to ride. Living in Milwaukee, we have a very definite cycling season. I wanted to install the Mach2 in spring and simply **leave it on the Tesla throughout the season**.
Now, when I decide at the last minute that I want to explore a new trail or riding area, the rack is already there. Grab the bike, load it, and go.
I also added the **Kody Technologies lighting system**, which integrates beautifully with the Mach2 and provides excellent additional rear visibility. Even with the lighting system installed, I retain full use of the Tesla’s rear hatch. The adjustable license-plate mounting solution is another thoughtful detail and gives me plenty of flexibility in positioning everything exactly where I want it.
And finally, something that probably doesn’t get mentioned very often in bike-rack reviews:
**The Mach2 actually makes my Tesla look better.**
I genuinely like leaving it on the vehicle. The aluminum construction, mechanical components and Kody lighting give the rear of the Model Y a sharp, purposeful, almost industrial appearance. It looks like it belongs there rather than looking like an accessory I forgot to remove.
That’s important to me because if I’m going to leave something attached to my car for months at a time, I want it to look good.
After living with the QuikrStuff Mach2, the three words I keep coming back to are:
**Fast. Secure. Durable.**
But I’d add a fourth: **beautifully engineered**.
The Mach2 has made transporting my bike so easy that I’m more inclined to simply throw the bike on the Tesla and go discover somewhere new. Ultimately, that’s probably the best compliment I can give a bike rack.
It doesn’t get in the way of cycling.
**It makes cycling easier.**
