We couldn’t be more thrilled about who won the QuikrStuff bike rack raffle at Roam Fest in September 2025. Meet Angelina Martinson–mountain biker, biomedical engineer, amputee, and amputee advocate.
Q: How did you hear of QuikrStuff and how does the Quik Rack Mach2 bike rack fit into your life?
I first heard about QuikrStuff at Roam Fest, where I actually won a Quik Rack Mach2! As an amputee, having gear that’s lightweight, sturdy, and easy to use really matters. The Mach2 makes it simple for me to load my bike on my own without worrying about balance or heavy lifting. It’s helped make mountain biking feel a little more accessible—and that’s something I’m always excited to share with others like me.
Q: You’re an amputee and a mountain biker. What’s your story and how did you get into mountain biking?
I was born in Russia with a limb difference and was put in an orphanage because of it. I was adopted, brought to the US and got an amputation all before the age of 5! I grew up in the U.S. learning to adapt in my own way; there were no running blades or adaptive sports programs back in the day. My dad and I tinkered in the garage figuring out ways to get me outdoors.
For a long time, I struggled with feeling like I didn’t have much control over my body—so getting outside and staying active became my way of taking that control back. Movement gave me confidence and reminded me what my body can do.
Mountain biking came later, but it instantly clicked. It’s equal parts challenge and freedom, and there’s something empowering about doing something that once felt out of reach. These days, I ride because it makes me feel strong and capable. I recently designed my own pink prosthetic cycling foot, designed to reflect my personality while being functional for an active lifestyle. This foot has allowed me to feel more connected with my bike and improved my riding.

From the About page at adaptiveamputees.com:
I have been an amputee for 30 years. I was born with clubfoot in a small town in Russia. I was given up for adoption with hopes that my medical needs could be addressed in America. I got a new family, a new home, and a new leg all before I turned 5!
I am a Biomedical Engineer. Growing up I was always frustrated by my leg limiting me. My dad and I would tinker in the garage and come up with activity-specific legs. I knew I wanted to become an engineer and help others feel unlimited!
I am an amputee advocate. I have learned a lot about demanding proper care and treatment. Being an amputee isn’t easy and learning how to ask for what you need is challenging. I educate and empower other amputees to be their best advocate!
