Whether your rack accompanies you down dusty roads, lives on your vehicle 24/7, or is stored indoors between uses, collecting dirt and debris in all its little nooks and crannies is a given.
Quik Rack Mach2: Made to Get Dirty, Made to Be Cleaned
Before you hose down your Mach2 or take it through the car wash, a couple of questions might cross your mind—like whether soapy water is safe for the materials, or if spraying it could loosen any parts.
The Quik Rack Mach2 is a precision-engineered piece of equipment, but it’s built to handle a gentle cleaning—and it actually benefits from an occasional wash to keep it looking and performing its best. Whether you hose it off in your driveway or take it through a car wash, keeping the following tips in mind will result in a squeaky clean rack that still functions as it should.
Step 1 – Remove the bike(s) from the rack.
Remove your bike(s) from the rack. If you don’t, pools of water and mud will just accumulate under the tires. Keep the bike(s) nearby in the car wash bay so you can spray them too. Keep the tire arms of the rack open.
Step 2 – Gently spray the rack with the car wash soap.
You don’t have to spray the soap everywhere or be concerned at this point about washing the dirt away. Most of the dirt will be loosened and removed during the rinsing step.
Step 3 – Use the more forceful rinse setting to spray away dirt, debris, and the soap.
Not shown here but a really good suggestion is to tilt the rack into the 45-degree position to better let the soap, dirt, and water run out of the bike trays.
DO NOT use the WAX option at the car wash. Most car wash waxes are formulated for automotive paint, not for the aluminum or steel materials used in bike racks. Also, wax build-up can interfere with functionality.
Step 4 – Dry the rack off with a towel.
Dry the freshly washed rack with a small towel or paper towels. This step isn’t absolutely necessary, but it will prevent new dirt and dust from collecting on your trip home from the car wash.
Step 5 – Take a picture of your clean bike(s) loaded up on your clean QuikrStuff Quik Rack Mach2 bike rack.

NOTE: You can take your bike rack through an automatic car wash, but we recommend using touchless options only.
